• Retired Wing Commander and former administrator Murkot Ramunny died here on 09-07-09 following a brief ailment. He was 95. His end came at Indiraji Cooperative Hospital where he was admitted following age-related illness.
  
  He was the son of the late Malayalam writer Murkot Kumaran and brother of Murkot Kunhappa, who had served as associate editor of the Malayala Manorama. A widower, he had been living in his house at Dharmadam after his retirement from the Civil Services. He is survived by four daughters.
